*.   Director/Computer & Bibliographic Services, Arapahoe
     Library District/Koelbel Public Library, Littleton
Full-time exempt position. Responsible for the direction
and performance of the Arapahoe Library District computer,
telecommunications, and bibliographic functions. Evaluates
the operation of the computer systems and supervises the
configuration of appropriate hardware, software, and
network procedures necessary for smooth operation. Oversees
the management of bibliographic services. Participates in
district planning and administrative deliberations. Serves
on district committees dealing with computer and technical
services, and acts as liaison to cooperating agencies.
Prepares and submits periodic written and oral reports to
district staff, management, and administration. Assigns
projects and tasks to department staff and coordinates a
cohesive system of services. Allocates department resources
in support of library goals and objectives. Serves on A-Team. 
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in computer
science or relevant field; MS/MIS preferred. Thorough
knowledge of program development, computer operations and
software, data communications, systems architecture,
hardware, and technology management techniques. Five years
of progressively responsible professional experience within
a data processing environment, plus a minimum of 3 years
management and supervisory experience. Library experience
preferred, but not required. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Must have a comprehensive and current knowledge of
microcomputer, telecommunications, and LAN applications.
Requires ability to operate computer equipment and
software, including reading from color and monochrome
computer monitors and using a variety of standard
keyboards. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to plan, budget, supervise, and represent the
district in the community. Knowledge of cataloging
desirable. Requires ability to communicate orally using a
telephone. Requires ability to travel to district libraries
for installation of equipment and to attend meetings.
Requires sufficient strength and dexterity to carry
equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Requires physical
dexterity to move around and under computer equipment for
installation and troubleshooting. Experience with
Innovative Interfaces or other integrated computerized
database systems preferred. Salary: Pay grade 13, Step G,

*.   Head of Collections & Acquisitions, Arapahoe Library
     District/Koelbel Public Library, Littleton
Salaried, exempt, full-time, 40 hours per week. Manages
operations of the Collection Development and Acquisitions
units. Oversees centralized selection of library
collections. Coordinates the weeding and evaluation of
library collections. Assists district staff in assessing,
developing, implementing, and interpreting collection
development plans. Oversees the acquisition of print and
audiovisual library materials, including negotiating
contracts with vendors. Hires, trains, and evaluates five
professional and six paraprofessional staff. Develops
policies and procedures. Prepares and submits periodic
written and oral reports to district staff, management, and
administration. Represents the district on committees
dealing with collection and acquisition issues. Assists the
director of Branch Services and Koelbel library manager in
establishing materials budget and goals.
Education/experience required: Master's degree in library
science, plus five years of professional experience at
least three of which must have been in public libraries.
Considerable experience in staffing, supervision, materials
selection and acquisition, budgeting, planning and control,
patron services, automated acquisition systems, and
purchasing. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Thorough knowledge
of public library goals, policies, and procedures.
Extensive knowledge of materials selection and acquisition,
publishing trends and vendors, and current recreational and
information needs of the public. Skill in analyzing and
evaluating information relative to collections and
acquisitions. Ability to plan, budget, supervise, negotiate
contracts, and represent the district in the community.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Strong
supervisory, interpersonal, and leadership skills. Must be
a service-oriented individual and have skills in writing
and developing policy and procedures and interpreting them
for staff and public. Thorough knowledge of automated
acquisitions. Knowledge and experience with Innovative,
Paradox, and WordPerfect desirable. Salary: Pay grade 12,
$35,473-$41,123 per year, depending on qualifications, plus

*.   Computer Technician (CSTECH), Arapahoe Library
     District/Koelbel Public Library, Littleton
Full-time exempt position. Manages microcomputer equipment
and software, including installation,  maintenance,
upgrades, trouble shooting, and consultation for all
district facilities. Applications include wide and local
area networks, Internet access, licensed on-line databases,
CD-ROM and networked CD-ROM databases, and a variety of
office software. Acts as liaison between the district and
vendors/maintenance companies. Performs routine preventive
maintenance on computer equipment. Education/Experience:
Associate's degree and two years relevant technical
experience; OR, equivalent experience in relevant field.
Knowledge/skills/abilities: Thorough working knowledge of
microcomputer hardware and software including networks, the
Internet, telecommunications hardware and software,  and
backup hardware and software.Advanced analytical and
communication skills. Ability to work effectively with
others and to work independently in a rapidly changing
environment. Familiarity with public library operations and
electronic information resources desirable. The position
requires ability to perform repairs on all hardware,
lifting of boxes of equipment weighing up to 60 lbs. on a
daily basis, and sufficient dexterity and endurance to work
at computers for extended periods of time.  Must be able to
travel throughout the district. Salary: Pay Grade 9, hiring
range: $2,413.83 - $2,798.33 per month, depending upon
