LIBRARIAN:   Electronic Records/Assistant Systems Librarian, to start
January 1999.
 Instructor/Assistant Professor rank. Full-time, tenure-track positon
pending successful performance review at the end of the first year.
Contract is for the academic year with possible summer contract. Salary
range $30,823 to $41,306 for the academic year, commensurate with
qualifications and experience.  

Millersville University of PA is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic
librarian whose responsibilities will be to manage and enhance database
records for all serials and electronic resources; catalog selected
Internet resources; supervise work with vendor(s) for establishing and
maintaining authority control of the library's bibliographic database; act
as primary back-up to and assist the Systems Librarian with the Library's
system administration; assist with library instruction.  Liaison
responsiblities and some reference duties; some evenings and weekends
required.

Required:  Master's degree in a program accredited by the ALA;
demonstrated ability to use electronic information resources, software,
and technologies; strong library service orientation; ability and
willingness to work cooperatively in a changing academic library and
university environment; at least two years cataloging experience in an
academic library; demonstrated expertise with the Internet and with OCLC
or RLIN; knowledge of and experience with AACR2, LCSH, LC Schedules,
USMARC formats, and other relevant cataloging tools; successful on-campus
interview.

Preferred:  Second Master's degree or doctorate; knowledge of and
experience with reference resources in an academic library; experience
with the Voyager system; supervisory experience.  Tenure requirement:
Enrollment in a second Master's degree program (Doctoral program
preferred) with significant progress toward its completion within five
years.
