Donna,
I tried to reply to you directly but your email address of
schumann at timberland.lib.wa.us did not appear to be working. Hopefully
you can still get web4lib 'tho.
I had the same problem with W3launch and it almost drove me batty before
I worked it out by accident.
In program listing follow this eg:
Title = xyz (xyz is the name you decide)
File name = c:\path (the path for launching the program)
and save.
Then edit the xyz file as follows:
Title=xyz
command=c:\path
Path=c:\path
originator=w3l
and save.
Then on the page to lookup the software
in Group title=xyz
in program title=xyz
and originator=w3l
Hope this helps. Don't hesitate to ask if you have problems. We've been
using it happily for about 8 months.
Cath
Catherine, please take pity on me and see if you can tell me what I'm
doing wrong. I think that I'm probably doing something dumb, but
reading and re-reading the W3Launch documentation hasn't helped, nor
has stealing syntax from the W3Launch web site gotten me any
forwarder. I'd be eternally grateful if you'd take a look at what I've
done. FYI, we are still using version 3.X for both Netscape and IE.
When I select the link to W3Launch on my web page, I get an error
message
saying "Unable to find group title in local files."
Here is how I have things set up:
I have all of the W3Launch executable files in the c:\anzio folder.
On my client PC, I have the following trlcat.lst file in c:\anzio:
******************
[Software]
Count=1
Title1=Catalog
Originator1=W3Launch
MajorVersion1=3
MinorVersion1=1
Command1=c:\anzio\anziopub.exe l
Path1=
*************************
Also on my client I have the following w3launch.ini file in c:\anzio:
*************************
;This is the main set up file for w3launch
[Groups]
Count=1
Title1=Catalog
File1=c:\anzio\trlcat.lst
*****************
On my web server, I have web page with the following link:
Dynix
In the same directory as my web page, I have a trlcat.w3l file
containing
the following (syntax lifted from mbmwww.leeds.ac.uk):
*************************
;this heading allows use of profile routines in windows to read the file
[Software]
;the title of the software
Title=Catalog
;will select the appropriate software listing file
Group=trlcat.lst
;specifies that error message should be given on other systems
System=
;optional line allows client to distinguish between products with same
name
Originator=
;this is ignored by my launcher but your launcher might do something
;clever with it...
Yourkeyhere=thingy
;optional version number can be used to make sure that the client
;is up to date. Error or warning will be generated by launcher
;if these don't tally with local record
MajorVersion=3
MinorVersion=1
;these entries can be any order as long as they follow the [Software]
heading
RejectOlder=No
RejectNewer=No
****************************
I hope that you can help me!
Regards, Donna
