Software for small library

Dear Web4libbers,

being involved in creating a documentation centre about blindness, I'm looking for informations about integrated system software suitable for small library. The centre will have only a two rooms library and two offices. I will appreciate any advice and observations (what kind of s/w they use, if requires complex hardware, etc) from people involved in similar specialized institutions.

Obviously, you can answer me directly and not the list.
