New on LLRX for December 1, 1998

Guide to International Trade Sources on the Internet
Marci Hoffman, a foreign, comparative and international law expert,
contributes a tremendously useful resource on conducting Web research in
the complex area of international trade laws, regulations and
agreements.
Marci highlights research guides, bibliographies, international trade
agreements, U.S. government resources, guides for doing business in
other
countries, statistics, and more.

Electronic Commerce and Law on the Internet
Bradley J. Hillis addresses the increasingly important issues of
providing wide ranging legal information resources for free on the Web,
while at the same time promoting electronic commerce,
enhancing the potential legal publishing market, and more widely
disseminating relevant information to the public.

In Part II of her article, the Two Most Important Parts of
Presentations, Marie Wallace discusses how to successfully
conclude a presentation.

In the spirit of the holiday season, Diana Botluk's article, Gifts from
the
Web, offers some nifty ideas for those of us who may choose the Web to
purchase, or obtain for free, products, services and various interesting
items.

In Margaret Berkland's new Links in the News you will
find: a site that provides bibliographies of members of the U.S.
Congress and the Continental Congress since 1774; a site with
comprehensive links to Canadian government information; a site whose
focus
is employment discrimination law; and an interesting site compiled by a
GW
University Librarian providing links to speeches and transcripts on a
wide
range of topics including government, business, radio/TV and historical
issues.

On the Newsstand has links to a number of presentations
from the recent Internet Librarian '98 Conference in Monterey,
California. Among the topics covered are: web authoring; strategies for
building a successful intranet; pricing and purchasing electronic
content;
how to find quality material on the Web, and search engine tips on
Northern
Light and AltaVista. In addition, there are links to recent articles on
gadgets for your PDA; the controversy over filtering software in public
libraries; and the impact of the new copyright law on free book sites.

LLRXalerts highlights the AOL/Netscape deal, and the new,
exclusive arrangement between Shepard's and Lexis-Nexis.
