SOCIS: Social Care Information Systems for Information Age

this we are trying to integrate with (Http,mSQL,Java etc.,)
this work related got published in recent FID '98 conference.
I can send the abstract of this work, which is al following.

 Abstract of the Work
 *********************
Decision making at the highest level for socio-economic problems
involves specialists and many a time, social leaders face tremendous
pressure to identify experts on "Social Care Information Systems
(SOCIS) which will take care of all health, education,
psychological and future developmental aspects for empowered
citizens. A seed for such a system can be grown on the existing
database products & In-house generated information, by
appropriately integrating with new Information Technology tools
like web, e-mail, multimedia etc. In Indian Institute of
Technology, we are planning to research and implement such
a system using faculty experts database, IKED - IIT Kharagpur
Expert Database and other commercial products. The offshoots of
this attempt will create the following probable products:

 1) Government or industry can identify suitable faculty members
 pursuing a particular problem.

 2) Automatic delivery of personalized information services to
members when the databases are updated, leading to
 webcasting /push technology based products.

 3) A database of articles from Journals subscribed by the Central
Library since its inception will be made available to help
resource sharing/ document delivery/ Inter Library Loan
 arrangements.

This paper attempts to report a part of the research and
implementation of SOCIS prototype, which can be extended later to
 cover experts in other institutions.

Other work we are trying is
 II) P/RESERWE on the Web:
(i.e) Print/Reprint services on the Web this is to integrate faculty
 publications on the web.

This message is being sent to several groups; please excuse duplicate postings.

The Local Systems and Services Committee (of the American Library
Association/Reference and User Services Association/Machine Assisted Reference
Section) is beginning work on a directory of innovative and creative Web-based
reference services in various categories such as

  	*expert systems
  	*reference menu organization
  	*reference FAQ databases
  	*reference department intranets
*locally produced bibliographic and full-text databases
  	*tutorials
  	*others?

Do you know of any libraries that have done innovative or creative work in such
areas? Perhaps your own academic, public, or special library? If yes, please
send me a *short* description of the project and a URL or sample.

The Local Systems and Services Committee will review your suggestions and
develop criteria over the upcoming months to use in identifying a few
outstanding examples in each category. The final result of this project will
  be a Web site
with descriptions and links for three to five sites in each of the various
  categories.

  Thank you!
