POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT:
COORDINATOR OF WEB AND INTEGRATED LIBRARY SYSTEM SERVICES
Responsibilities: Coordinates the ongoing development and maintenance
of the University of Houston Libraries' Internet and Intranet Web services.
Oversees the operations of the Innovative Interfaces INNOPAC integrated
library system. Reports to the Head of Systems.
The Libraries are a leader in providing state-of-the-art electronic
information services. Their Electronic Publications Center has over 140
public workstations. Over 80 networked electronic information resources
are available. The Libraries publish an electronic journal (the PACS
Review) and run the PACS-L discussion list.
Qualifications: Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library school;
at least six months of work experience with Web site creation and
maintenance; and significant academic training in information
technology, including at least one high-level programming language
(or equivalent experience) required. Experience with INNOPAC
management (or other ILS management) preferred. NT and UNIX
background desirable. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of
staff. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and oral/written
communications skills. Ability to work well under pressure, and to
set/attain goals effectively.
Salary: $31,000. Comprehensive benefits package; choice of retirement
programs including TIAA-CREF; tax-deferred annuity program available;
released time to take a class up to 3 hours/week; no state or local
income tax.
Library Information: The Libraries are a member of the Association of
Research Libraries, hold over 1.8 million volumes, with a current
materials budget of $4.2 million. Total staff includes 46 professionals
