POSITION:  REFERENCE LIBRARIAN

The College at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Reference
Librarian (11 weeks, temporary, June 15 - August 27, 1998).  SUNY-Oneonta, a
four-year arts and sciences college with a pre-professional focus, offers
liberal arts and professional programs at undergraduate and master's levels. 
The campus, with 5,500 students and 240 full-time faculty, is located in the
scenic Catskills, three and one half hours from New York City.  The library has
a collection of more than 500,000 volumes and serves as a federal and state

DUTIES:
Work in a collegial atmosphere in a six member, service-oriented reference
department which provides direct reference and research assistance in
electronic and traditional formats.  Will be involved in other activities of
the department including producing handouts, instruction guides, and/or Web
pages.  Participates in night/weekend reference desk schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Accredited MLS, excellent oral and written communication skills are required. 
Familiarity with electronic information sources, Internet search engines and
experience in reference service in an academic library are preferred.
