PRESS RELEASE
American Library Association produces video news release
"Log-on at Your Library"
Everyone knows that libraries are have virtually any kind of
information -- whether you're planning a business trip to Asia or
looking for a great read. But these days, more and more libraries have
something new on their information lineup: the Internet.
The American Library Association (ALA) has produced a video
news release for television stations nationwide to air during National
Library Week, April 19-25, School Library Media Month in April or other
times they select through June.
Librarians, trustees and Friendss are encouraged to contact
their local stations and urge them to air the video news release. Titled
"Log-on at Your Library," the 90-second news report highlights how a
growing number of public, school and academic libraries provide
access to online information resources and the important new role of
librarians in helping to guide parents, children and others through
cyberspace.
The report includes interviews with Barbara J. Ford, president
of the American Library Association, and John Dayhoff, vice provost for
information technology at Virginia Commonwealth University in
Richmond.
