Library Computer Systems Specialist: 
Arlington Public Library, Arlington Texas. 

Arlington is a city of 300,000 in the heart of the DFW Metroplex.  
Seeking an experienced and energetic information systems 
professional to oversee our integrated library system operations 
as well as managing our Internet access network.  The Arlington Public 
Library includes a Central Library and four branches and operates a 
Gaylord Galaxy integrated system, as well as a Windows NT-based
Internet server and functions as the City of Arlington's Internet access 
point.  

Applicants must have both strong communication skills and technical 
skills, including hands-on experience with Windows NT and with the 
operations of library integrated systems.  Knowledge of MARC formats 
and of overall library operations and routines in circulation, acquisitions 
and cataloging are also required, as are extensive knowledge of library
automation systems and networking and telecommunications principles and 
practices.  

Duties include overseeing integrated system functioning, resolving 
hardware and software problems with automation vendors, making 
minor repairs on personal computers and peripheral equipment, configuring 
and installing telecommunications equipment, conducting staff training and
participating on Library and City teams as the Library's automation 
representative.  

Qualifications include three years of experience as a library automation 
professional and two years college course work in computer science.  A 
Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program
