Re your query about filling your search engine classes - you could ask the
computer centre people who do the rest of the Internet training to draw
their students attention to the searching classes. We do Internet training
at all levels in the Library, and at the intro sessions we promote the
searching sessions. That seems to work well. 
It's a popular class, attended mostly by faculty, post-graduate and 
3rd or 4th year students who are more serious about their Internet use!
