Hi
Haven't had experience with Historian but WinU from
Bardon(http://www.bardon.com) has usage tracking which seemes to work
ok, but it is a complete Win95 menu/security system, the tracking
doesn't come separate.
If you want to really splash out there is Softrack
(http://www.on.com/) which can track all usage of programs on a server and
workstations as well as license metering. This is useful as you can get special
concurrent licenses from some vendors that allow you to load software
onto say 20 workstations but only have a 10 concurrent user license, as long as
you are running Softrack. If all 5 licenses are in use the user gets a message
telling them so and they can then go into a queue to get a license
when one becomes free. There are NT and Novell versions.
I have used the Novell version and it seemed to provide accurate
statistics on usage by user, hour, day, license etc. Very usefull for
finding out if you really need a 20 user license for Microsoft Office or if you
could get away with 10.
