RENSSELAER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE LIBRARIES AND INFORMATION SERVICES
INFORMATION SYSTEMS LIBRARIAN

The Information Systems Librarian supports the implementation and =
on-going maintenance for the growing volume of electronic resources =
available through the Libraries' automated services, as a member of the =
Libraries' Automation Team which reports to the Director of Libraries =
and Information Services.  Administers the Libraries' WWW interface =
(RensSearch) implementing emerging technologies and techniques.  =
Provides liaison and backup to the Coordinator of the Campus Wide =
Information System (RPInfo).  Administers the Libraries' CD-ROM =
resources and investigates alternative formats.  Assists in overall =
management of library automation resources, hardware and software.  =
Provides training for Libraries' staff on automated resources and =
techniques.  Assists with the development of an expanded on-line library =
user education program and serves on the Libraries' Automation =
Committee.

Qualifications:  Required:  ALA-accredited MLS.  Strong working =
knowledge of WWW tools, applications, techniques, practices, and =
resources.  Experience with computer equipment support and maintenance.  =
Interest in on-going training and skills development.  Familiarity with =
electronic information resources and formats.  Demonstrated effective =
interpersonal skills, interest in team-building, and comfort with a =
teaching role.  Enthusiasm for the responsibilities of the position, the =
success of the Libraries, and welfare of the Institute.
Preferred:  Library experience.  Extensive knowledge of automated =
library systems, particularly familiarity with local area network =
technologies and CD-ROM configurations.  Demonstrated teaching =
experience.

Minimum salary: $29,000.
