MANAGER, TECHNICAL & AUTOMATION SERVICES
Exciting and challenging opportunity
to provide technological leadership!
SEARCH RE-OPENED. Progressive, heavily-used and well-supported public
library seeks highly-qualified manager with substantial technical
services and automation experience and expertise to re-structure and
manage technical services department. Also responsible for all aspects
of the selection, installation, implementation and day-to-day operation
of a comprehensive, integrated automated library system. Funds have
been allocated for acquisition of a new system.
REQUIREMENTS: M.L.S. from an ALA-accredited library school. At least 5
years of technical services experience -- does not
need to have been in a public library. Significant supervisory
experience a must; management of an entire technical services department
desirable. Knowledge of technical services operations and national
standards essential. Thorough understanding of and up-to-date
experience with USMARC, OCLC, Dewey, LCSH, and a comprehensive,
integrated automated library system.
ALSO SEEKING: Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability and
willingness to develop and maintain a work environment which maximizes
productivity, operational efficiency, and results in the timely and
cost-effective cataloging and processing of all library materials.
Customer-centered approach to library service. Willingness to keep
current via the professional literature, active participation in
professional associations, state and regional planning and initiatives,
and continuing education.
Starting Salary: $55,000-$65,000. Good benefits.
