Southwest Missouri State University
University Libraries

Head, Library Systems Office
Assistant or Associate Professor

Position is available immediately.

Coordinates planning and development of a broad spectrum of library
technologies and systems. Provides leadership and creativity for new
initiatives related to operations and service. Continues the planning
and implementation of library automation. Coordinates installation and
maintenance of all library hardware/software. Trains library employees
in
the use of hardware/software. Serves as liaison with University Computer
Services, state wide organizations and library automation vendors.
Supervises 2 full-time employees. Must meet faculty requirements for
librarianship, professional development, research, and service including
teaching in the library science program and participation in other
appropriate library activities. Reports to Dean of Library Services.

REQUIRED: ALA accredited MLS. 3 years professional experience with a
variety of library systems. Ability to communicate effectively with both
technical and non-technical audiences. Demonstrated leadership
capabilities, management and supervisory skills. Demonstrated technical
knowledge of client/server and desktop computing. Evidence of strong
commitment to responsive service.

PREFERRED: Degree in computer-related area. Experience with a variety of
library systems including OCLC, Ariel, Ameritech LMS. Academic library
experience. Experience with different computer platforms including
Macintosh, Windows, UNIX, Mainframe. Demonstrated knowledge and use of a
variety of statistical, word-processing, database, and communication
(WWW,
e-mail, visual) software packages.

Negotiable; $40,000 minimum for 12 months. 20 days vacation, standard
holidays, sick leave. Tenure track faculty appointment in the Southwest
Missouri State University Department of Library Science. Rank dependent
upon qualifications. Comprehensive insurance including health, dental
