Intranet search engines

Check out the June BYTE magazine. "The Searchable Kingdom," on p.
92NA1.  It's not yet on the www.byte.com site; that still shows the May
issue as current. At least as of 1:30 p.m., PST, 5/23/97.

Article compares and analyzes products for indexing intranets.  This
isn't just for internal use, the indexes CAN be used for the "part of
your intranet that is visible to the public."  Some of the tools also
index non-Web resources.

Article covers products like AltaVista, SmartCrawl, Inktomic, Open
Text, Smartcrawl, Hotbot, and such.... Doesn't hit some, like Zyimage,
that really have that capability.  But one does what one can.
