We are beginning to experiment with Adobe Acrobat document formats for
"printable" versions available on the WWW. The software is reasonably
priced and we can integrate it into our workflow easily. For example see
our "Honors theses guidelines" at http://www.bowdoin.edu/dept/library/honors/
We like this because people can create documents in WP or Word and we can
instantly put them up. Students then take the files and code the .html
versions. It is possible to work the other way too. Very flexible. Is it
work the extra work? Yes. Especially since the extra work is mostly
negligble. After that maintenance involves two files rather than one.
