                          ANNOUNCEMENT

The Reference Department, Albin O. Kuhn Library, UMBC in cooperation with
Dr. Kevin Eckert, Professor, Department of Sociology and Anthropology,
UMBC are collecting and classifying syllabi and bibliographies on the
general topic: advanced technology as a cultural process. Material will be
archived and made available via the www, at:
	 http://umbc7.umbc.edu/~curnoles/cybersoc.html

At the 1996 annual meeting of the Society for Applied Anthropology (sfaa),
a topical interest group was created focusing on advanced technology as a
cultural process. The interest group will promote the study of applied
aspects of the relationship between advanced technology and social
change. Advanced technology is conceived as including, but not limited to,
computing.

The collection (both physically and electronically), classifying, and
dissemination of course syllabi and bibliographies via the www will assist
students, faculty and others in developing studies as well as courses
addressing advanced technology as a social and cultural process. We need your
assistance in collecting syllabi and bibliographies.

You may submit your syllabus or bibliography in several ways:

1. Hard copies of syllabi and/or bibliographies may be sent to:
 		Bud Curnoles, Reference Librarian
Albin O. Kuhn Library & Gallery, UMBC
1000 Hilltop Circle, Baltimore, MD 21250.

2. Electronic submission is encouraged. Prior to submission please
	E-mail
Bud Curnoles <curnoles at umbc7.umbc.edu> for assistance on
	electronic file transfers.

3. If your material is on the World Wide Web, please E-mail Bud with
	your URL.

We encourage you to forward this message electronically or by other means
to colleagues. Please spread the word. We hope this will become a
valuable resource for those working in this exciting new area.

By sending us your syllabus or bibliography you are giving the Albin O.
Kuhn Library, UMBC permission to reproduce and distribute it
electronically or by hard copy.
