windows 95 and office 97

I had windows 95 on my computer along with Office 95 and Office 97. The
strangest thing happened when I uninstalled Office 97. The older Word,
Powerpoint and Excel were erased and the 97 versions remained. In addition,
I can't find the old programs to undelete them.  

Just out of curiosity, has this happened to anyone else? I am rapidly
developing a love/hate relationship with Windows 95...
