Filtering facts? Hasn't that been done? I thought the library
profession
tried to provide unfiltered facts....

(Sorry, starting Friday a little early this week :)

-----------------
Yeah, Karen Schneider and others have been working very
hard to provide filtering FACTS for quite a while. And of
course discussions here have done that. But.....even though
I thoroughly disagree with any filtering, and think that parents
should learn to be more responsible than their kids, and be
responsible FOR their own kids, we've got to recognize that
there is an opposition. I personally hope that PICS will blow
away the filter companies, but even it won't solve all the
problems. And, I have no objection to people buying filters for
their own home use.

I will say that I did forward the announcement of the web site
to a couple of other lists, with the disclaimer on me having
anything to do with the site and that I don't support their
beliefs, but that even when I'm vigorously opposed to any
filtering in libraries, I still need to "know my enemy" and be
prepared for their assault.

cheers
