INNOVATIVE LIBRARY TECHNOLOGY LEADER NEEDED!


The North Suburban Library System, a consortium of 650 academic, public,
school and special libraries in the suburbs north of Chicago, invites
applications from individuals with a background both in libraries and
technology to provide leadership as Assistant Director for Technology.  The
successful applicant will be a planner and a visionary.  She/he, as part of
the top management team, needs excellent problem-solving and oral and
written communication skills.

NSLS is a fast-paced learning organization and the successful applicant will
be comfortable with change as a well as a collegial relationship with all
levels of the organization.  NSLS is currently involved in building a
regional network of community homepages and is planning major changes to the
System database, LIAison, now a CD ROM product.  A large digitization
project is also planned for the immediate future.

Knowledge and skills needed:  

	library experience, preferably in more than one type of library, MLS
preferred.

	technology experience, in managing a large scale technology project and
familiarity 
	with technology concepts.  Demonstrated ability to create and implement new
technology
	projects.

	management experience, including supervising staff, budget preparation and
creating a 
	positive work environment

	public speaking experience, necessary for explaining and promoting
technology programs.
 
Salary from $50,000 annually--excellent benefits.
