Jim,

The October 7 1997 issue of _PC Magazine_ reviewed seven analysis tools:

- Bazaar Analyzer Pro (http://www.bazaarsuite.com/)
- HitList Pro 3.5 (http://www.marketwave.com/)
- IIS Assistant (http://www.go-iis.com/issa/issahome.htm)
- NetIntellect 2.5 (http://www.webmanage.com/)
- NetStats Pro (http://www.igsnet.com/netstats.html)
- NetTracker 3.0 Professional (http://www.sane.com/)
- WebTrends 3.5 (http://www.webtrends.com/)

I read the article in the print version, but PC Mag's site is
http://www.zdnet.com/pcmag/ if you care to try to find it that way (I didn't have any luck in a quick poke-through)

I've heard good words about Analog (http://www.statslab.cam.ac.uk/~sret1/analog/), which I think is either free or very cheap, and it's definitely a UNIX tool.

-- see also the Yahoo! category
http://www.yahoo.com/Computers_and_Internet/Software/Internet/World_Wide_Web/Servers/Log_Analysis_Tools/

I also looked very briefly at high-end tools like Andromedia's Aria and Accrue Insight, which did a little more than I really needed. But it's nice to have a basis for comparison.

Hope it helps.
