DUTIES: Access Services including circulation and stack management;
reference; database searching; outreach and instruction. Develops subject-
focused Web pages. Supervises students. Coordinates reference with other
Library staff who provide backup services and advanced subject reference.
QUALIFICATIONS: MLS or equivalent; experience working with the public; effective
interpersonal skills; strong oral and written communication skills; initiative
and sound judgment; accuracy and attention to detail; ability to work flexibly
as part of a team in a fast-paced and demanding environment. Preference given to
candidates with: an interest in science or knowledge of a scientific discipline;
experience conducting graduate-level research or who demonstrate a solid
understanding of the research and publication process; and experience in areas
appropriate to the job's responsibilities.
SALARY & BENEFITS: This is an entry level position. The expected hiring range for
Assistant Librarian is $35,424/year. The SLAC Library is part of the Stanford Linear
Accelerator Center, a national basic research laboratory, operated by Stanford
University under a contract from the United States Department of Energy (DOE).
SLAC Library employees are part of Stanford University and receive the
