Developments in information technology have had a major impact in libraries
of all types over the last two decades.  The challenges for libraries arise
from the advent of the computer and the proliferation of cheaper, faster,
and more efficient means of accessing information.  These challenges are
profound and have a wide reach in the library world.  The role of the
libraries in a digital world is uncertain and challenging.  How libraries
respond to the many implications of the information technologies will have
a determining effect in their sustainability.  Ethical issues of privacy,
intellectual property, censorship, and knowledge organization are also of
major concerns to libraries in today's networked environment.  This IRMA
track seeks to expand professional knowledge in this critical arena.
