The Washington State Library is seeking a Senior Library
Information Specialist under temporary appointment to support the
development of the Government Information Locator Service (GILS)
project through June 30, 1997.
Duties: Consult with pilot agencies to identify, inventory and
catalog public records; evaluate records management techniques for
public access to records; assist in development of a global records
index; coordinate GILS system testing; management of the GILS
catalog database; and represent GILS before state and local
agencies.
Qualifications: ALA accredited MLS and certification by the WSLC
AND, three years professional librarian experience working in a
public/governmental environment using traditional and electronic
reference research services and cataloging schemes. It is
desirable that the candidate have experience in records management
plus designing and evaluating Internet-based reference tools and
html.
The successful candidate will possess a strong public service
orientation, and demonstrate leadership, organizational
communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work
effectively in a project environment.
Salary: $2,634 - $3,370/mo./DOQ; excellent benefits
