Systems Support Specialist IV -- Iowa State University Library

Appointment Conditions: Full-time, 12 month, Professional and
Scientific status.
Description: Under the general direction of the Assistant Director
for Automated Systems, this position manages the Unix database
servers and search interfaces that are part of the library's newly
expanded SCHOLAR information system and serves as the Library's
Webmaster.
Qualifications:
Required: B.S. degree in Computer Science or equivalent
information technology program. A knowledge of the Unix operating
system, Unix system administration, TCP/IP networking protocols,
the C and PERL programming languages, HTML, and client/server
applications. Three to five years experience installing and
maintaining server software, with the conversion and management of
complex databases (MARC, SGML, ASN.1), and with information
standards and protocols (Z39.50, Z39.58).
Salary: $31,042 minimum, depending upon qualifications and
experience.
Benefits: TIAA/CREF, excellent group medical, dental and life
insurance, 24 working days vacation and 18 days sick leave per
fiscal year.
