[Cross-posted minimally, to LIBRARY, LIBREF-L, PACS-L,
WEB4LIB, and RLG internal lists. Sorry for duplication.]
RLG is pleased to announce Eureka on the Web, a new service for
end-user access to RLG's wealth of bibliographic resources.
Eureka on the Web combines Eureka's display designs and overall
methodology with the point-and-click directness of the World Wide
Web, including hyperlinks to find related records and to reach
resources through electronic access. The service is designed for
speed and ease of use without sacrificing functionality or the
graphic appeal of the Web.
A dozen RLG members will begin using Eureka on the Web later this
month. Another dozen members will be added about a month later,
as RLG continues to monitor and fine-tune the new service.
Eureka on the Web will be available to other members and users
beginning in January 1997.
Eureka on the Web will support all files available through the
current RLG search services (Eureka via telnet and Zephyr, RLG's
Z39.50 service) at the same prices and with the same conditions.
Users can establish accounts that use Eureka via telnet and
Eureka on the Web interchangeably.
