Reports from Infoworld indicate that Iomega (Zip's maker) has just landed
deals to have Zip drives included as standard components in a number of PC
manufacturer's offerings. It seems that they are well positioned to become
a standard.
Also - Zip drives have been seen for at least as low as $190 (US) with
cartridges (disks?) running about $20 (US). Someone had mentioned a $500
price tag, but I think that is for the Ziup's big brother, the Jaz drive,
which can handle up to 1GB of Data.
