BECOMING A CONTRIBUTOR TO THE WORLD WIDE WEB: MASTERING HYPERTEXT
MARKUP LANGUAGE
This exciting and educational workshop (co-sponsored by the Potomac
Valley Chapter of the American Society for Information Science (ASIS)
and the College of Library and Information Services (CLIS) at the
University of Maryland) will emphasize the techniques of hypertext
markup and the design of effective and readable WWW pages. The
workshop format will include lecture with handouts, some small group
discussion, and plenty of hands-on time with a computer allotted for
each participant to create and critique their own pages.
By the end of the workshop, participants will:
-- understand the capabilities and limitations of HTML
-- be able to mark documents with the most commonly used tags
-- be able to incorporate links to other files and images into HTML
documents
-- be aware of stylistic conventions that apply to the design of HTML
files
