recommendations needed for a good web design book

Librarians will probably hate it, because it goes against the grain, but if
you really want to learn about good web design you should get, "Creating
Killer Web Sites" by David Siegel.
        Please note, this isn't HTML, this is web design. A good knowledge
of HTML is assumed. But follow the tips in this book and your site will be
awesome. Especially if you have Photoshop.
