Proxy Server

At Northwestern University we are just about to unveil proxy services to our
community. We are using the Netscape Proxy Server and tie it into kerberos
which checks against NetID (Network ID) to authenticate the user. The user
also has to configure the Proxy settings in their web browser. When they are
using "restricted access" databases or journals they can turn proxy services
off.
Our IT folks also hacked a telnet passthrough program that basically does
the same thing although it does not maintain state (for security reasons),
thus users need to reauthenticate to connect to different databases.
