Librarians as University Webmasters

I am a librarian and the Webmaster (or whatever) of the original and
only functioning institutional Web server for the university at which I
work. (A computer science professor maintains one of his own.)
Am I employed as the Webmaster? I suppose so. I have been authorized by my
Dean to do it. And have enlisted the help of librarian subject specialists
to help find and organize pages dealing with their subject areas (majors,
programs, etc in the curriculum). On the other hand, this is addition to
everything else I do - there's not actually time alloted for it.
How did it happen? I thought it would be a good idea for the university
to have a Web server (actually Gopher, originally), got the
endorsement of the Dean (library director) and enlisted the help of a
computer science professor. We presented the idea to the Council of Deans
and the Academic Vice President. Nobody said not to do it. That, of
course is not the whole story...
