The Berkeley Web search page made me aware of Excite
(http://www.excite.com) and I have been very impressed by it, both for
comprehensiveness and for ability to weight results. It's now my first
choice when searching the Web, all the more so since (at least until
this posting) it's pretty easy to get into.
I've seen only two problems: display is limited to 40 items, and
representative text from the page is chosen by the computer according
to some algorithm. The choice is often meaningless and occasionally
misleading.
