Java in libraries?

Thom says:
"I think if you write an article _on_ Java it will be the most unread,
uninteresting article written by either man or woman in all of recorded
history..."

Whoa, there, darlin'! We're exaggerating just a tiny bit, aren't we? Karen is
interested in writing it, ALA is interesting in publishing it, and you and I and
everyone else on this list is reading about as fast as we can! So why not let
the rest of Library Land know about it too?

But I agree with you 100% when you say:
"The interesting
issues are what these new interaction capabilities mean to folks primarily
in libraries who are preparing to offer information services thru the
internet. What does it mean to sites with hundreds of html pages. How do
they plan for the future which is not in-hand but is _just_ down the road?"

That is what I would be interested in reading. Use "Java" in the headline to
get folks' attention. Bring them up to date with it and other products-in-
production, and then talk about how we can make use of these new technologies in
our libraries.

I say go for it, Karen.
