Threads without subject lines

I can't be the only one noticing the numerous postings to WEB4LIB
without a subject line. By now, it's infamous: "Subject: [WEB4LIB] Re:"

Take a moment to type an appropriate subject line. As Jakob Nielsen
wrote:

"Microcontent [such as email subject lines] needs to be pearls of
clarity: you get 40-60 characters to explain your macrocontent. Unless
the title or subject make it absolutely clear what the page or email is
about, users will never open it." (cf.

NB: Jakob's site "Alertbox" is an invaluable resource for anyone
involved with the Web. http://www.useit.com/alertbox/
