Position: Law Librarian I/II

Recruitment Dates: August 3 - August 21, 1998

Qualifications: A Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA
accredited college or university and two years of professional library
experience appropriate to the position, or an equivalent combination of
education and job related experience which provides the required
knowledge, skills and abilities. 

Preferred: Strong computer skills, knowledge of on-line searching, and
the Internet; bibliographic instruction experience; strong writing skills. 

Essential Functions: Respond to in-person and telephone requests from
patrons for complex and in-depth reference services at the Law Library;
develop pathfinders, library guides, brochures, newsletters; conduct
tours of facility; assist and train patrons in the use of library resources
and services; assist with staff training; assist in developing the library's
web page, network, and resources. 

Must be highly service oriented and motivated, demonstrate expertise in
the use of electronic resources, have the ability to answer questions at
a busy reference desk and possess excellent oral and written
communication skills.

The Superior Court Law Library, a department of the Superior Court of
Arizona in Maricopa County, is a public law library serving the citizens,
bench, and bar of Maricopa County. The Law Library has its main facility
in Downtown Phoenix and a branch library in the Court's Southeast
facility in Mesa. The library has over 120,000 print volumes and 75,000
microform volumes.  The library maintains a Novell 4.11 LAN for staff and
public computers offering access to over 30 networked CD-ROM's and
the Internet, and is currently in the process of implementing the integrated
