Ending the filtering thread

As much as I'm used to unmoderated listservs elsewhere on the Internet, I
have to say that Roy's guidelines make alot of sense. I think several
people have been pretty guilty of sending out lots of messages with very
little new said and others have been sending out flame bait. Some of us
have been called names, which has been annoying if not amusing.

At the same time I'm annoyed by those who clamor for the thread to end.
This is a typical newbie knee-jerk reaction. I can understand it if folks
would ask those involved in the debate to act more responsibly, but it
doesn't make sense to ask that a debate be ended which obviously many think
to be interesting.

I'm trying to keep my posts to a minimum. Laura and I are working on a
Filtering FAQ so that some of our arguments won't have to be endlessly
repeated. If you'd like to help with the FAQ, send us some email.

Chuck
