New Jersey Institute of Technology seeks a self-motivated, creative, and highly collaborative Project Leader, Systems and Applications professional to deploy and coordinate complex technological functions and analyses to support library systems and applications.  The successful candidate must understand the trends in information technologies and libraries, and must have a demonstrated track record of successful project management and implementation of technologies and services.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Assistant University Librarian, this position is responsible for migration of the current integrated library system (ILS) to a new library management system (LMS). Primary responsibility is to install, configure, monitor, administer, and upgrade the Kuali Open Library Environment (OLE) and VuFind systems. This position creates and develops new code and applications using current programming languages and environments, and application frameworks. This position also maintains and sustains all aspects of the migration process, and advance the new LMS to achieve the library's goals through needs assessment to inform future uses and directions.

Once the migration is complete, this position will continue to work on implementing library technology initiatives involving the new LMS and other key systems and applications. The position tests and deploys new tools and services primarily to integrate with open source project software, which may include Fedora, Omeka, Drupal, and Open Journal Systems (OJS) in support of digital scholarship and scholarly communication initiatives and activities.

This position requires a creative approach to project management and ability to navigate a complex technological infrastructure. The successful candidate is expected to exercise initiative, flexibility, and possess the capability to work with a diverse set of stakeholders to ensure library systems and applications are optimized to meet the on-going business requirements of the library and university.

Qualifications:

A bachelor degree in computer science, information systems or related fields from an accredited college/university is required; 7 to 10 years of progressive computing experience in applications, middleware, and/or database administrative environment or similar level of experience for at least 3 to 5 years of enterprise systems/applications development. Experience working with high-level technical personnel.

Demonstrated experience with application development in one or more major programming languages, environments, and frameworks such as PHP, Java2EE, JSON, C++, RDF, XML, XSTL, REST, or Ruby on Rails. Demonstrated experience with Linux/Unix, LAMP stack or similar technology stacks. Experience with other DBMS’s such as Oracle, SQL, and PostgreSQL preferred. Complementary library applications and DBA experience are preferred. Experience with open source software including multi-platform integration. Knowledge of software as a service system (SaaS) environment preferred.

Analytical, organizational, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills required. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team-based environment with commitment to responsive services and ability to manage complex technical assignments are required. Experience in higher education environment desired.
