Discovery and Discoverability

Dec 3rd 2014 UCL

https://www.ucl.ac.uk/publishing/events/programme

Discovery systems have become prevalent in University libraries as a way of consolidating access to a wide range of resources. Though much has been done in measuring performance of these systems, there is still little little knowledge of their performance in other contexts such as public or corporate libraries and archives. Publishers are also trying to tailor their content to work with such systems and indeed to provide specialist discovery engines of their own as well as engaging with social networks and other innovative technologies. This half day event will look at the new breed of discovery systems from a user, contextual and content owner ie publisher perspective. It will bring together industry experts, academics and practitioners to discuss these issues and will be of value to libraries/archivists et al in all sectors, and to to publishers and content owners in understanding how to get the best of such systems.

The seminar will be at the usual UCL favourable rate of £110 with a discounted rate for students. Please contact Malvia Plante at malvia.plante at ucl.ac.uk. There is a final programme attached to the website.
