You may get a better response from the EZProxy listserv.

I have ours set up in EZProxy. There is a lot of helpful information about
EZProxy here: http://www.oclc.org/support/services/ezproxy.en.html

Subject: [WEB4LIB] EZ-Proxy account validation
Howdy!
Not sure if this is the place to ask this.
We have a very old EZ-Proxy user validation system, and the web page through
which the validation occurs is through a third-party.
The issue with this is, it is uncertain whether I can setup logic so that an
error message displays if the credentials entered are invalid.
How are others setting up this validations? Just curious.
Thanks, y'all,
