Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) Libraries is looking for a Web Developer.

Drupal website, plus custom web programming on various projects.

 Our Library seeks to be a leader among academic libraries by providing
excellent services and resources that embrace the digital age.  EKU
Libraries consist of a Main Library and two branches.



In this dynamic environment, EKU Libraries is inviting applications for a
Web Developer in the Technology and Data Services Division of the
Libraries. This position is heavily focused on coding, and provides a great
opportunity to design and implement creative solutions, experiment with new
technologies, and collaborate with colleagues.



The successful candidate will:


   -  help design, develop and implement the library's website, custom web
   applications, and system user interfaces
   - collaborate with the university IT on the support and further
   development of the Drupal-based website
   - participate in the User Experience group and contribute to evaluating
   and improving the online user experience for students, faculty and staff
   - work with other departments to gather requirements, design and
   implement custom web applications as needed (current projects include the
   customization of the online library resources, digital collections and
   exhibits, and a future discovery system)
   - bring knowledge about best web practices, web accessibility
   guidelines, and emerging technologies

Qualifications:


   - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
   - One year experience in web development required. Or an equivalent
   combination of education and experience which provides the required
   knowledge, skills and abilities
   - Demonstrated web development experience with HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL (or
   other relational databases), SQL, Javascript, jQuery
   - Drupal experience strongly preferred
   - Ability to propose creative and innovative web-based solutions
   - Effective communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical,
   and problem-solving skills
   - Collegiality and ability to work collaboratively with both technical
   and library staff with various levels of technical knowledge
   - Ability to work independently and as part of a team
   - Work experience in a university setting
   - Strong customer service orientation
