Information Technology Librarian

University of Texas at San Antonio Libraries


The University of Texas at San Antonio Libraries is seeking a dynamic, energetic, user oriented individual for the position of Information Technology Librarian.  This position is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and enhancing a wide range of technologies and systems and providing statistical, usage, and collection reports in support of decision making for library collections and services.  Required Qualifications:   Master's degree in Library Science or Master's degree in Library & Information Science from an ALA-Accredited institution.  Three years of relevant professional experience in managing  integrated library system.  Working experience with Windows- and Unix-based servers. Experience with DBMSs (MS SQL, MySQL, Oracle, or MS Access) and writing queries in Structural Query Language (SQL). Experience programming in Shell script, XSL, PHP, Perl or Python.  Experience with Web standards and scripting using HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript, or JQuery.  Knowledge of library metadata standards and practices including a minimum of two of the following: MARC21, RDA, Dublin Core, EAD, OAI-PMH, TEI, METS and MODS.  Ability to understand and analyze a complex library systems infrastructure and inter-operability issues between various systems. Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, and organizational skills.  Excellent analytical skills and ability to learn quickly and utilize the acquired knowledge.  Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.  Strong service orientation.

Preferred Qualifications:  Experience administrating Voyager Integrated Library System.  Experience with discovery services, OpenURL, and Web Services. Experience integrating a wide variety of third-party applications into library information systems. Understanding of library operations related to selecting, acquiring, organizing and finding/searching. Knowledge of user authentication and authorization using LDAP and Shibboleth, especially synchronizing user accounts across multiple application used in libraries. Advanced knowledge and skills in programming and modeling.


Salary:  $52,140 - $68,000/Annualized (flexible, depending on qualifications).  This is an Administrative & Professional (A&P), benefits eligible, position.
