We use a combination of LibreOffice (free open source software) and Google
Drive. Google Drive is great stable, and is very easy to use.
Unfortunately it has some serious issues if you want to do complicated
formatting or mail merging. So we use LibreOffice for the heavy lifting.
In most instances you can import Office documents into LibreOffice edit and
or change them and then save as an Office .doc.
