The William Madison Randall Library at The University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) invites applications for the position of Information Technology Librarian. UNCW is a member institution of the University of North Carolina, a multi-campus university composed of all 17 of North Carolina's public institutions. UNCW is nationally recognized for its marine sciences teaching and research programs, and for its strengths in arts and sciences, business, education, and nursing.  The University is situated on a beautiful arboretum campus located in an historic port city within five miles of the Atlantic Ocean and currently enrolls approximately 13,000 students.



DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  The person in this position works in the collaborative environment of the Information Technology and Systems department of the library. This librarian supports, enhances, implements and maintains a wide range of technologies and systems to provide robust library services and access to collections through increasingly online interfaces. This position also supports our library staff and users in the use of technology, including the application of emerging technologies.



Systems and Technology Support:

 *   Assists in managing Randall Library’s integrated library system, currently Innovative Interfaces’s Millennium.
 *   Provides support and enhancement for a variety of library systems, including but not limited to the integrated library system, link resolver, proxy server, archives management system, digital library system, interlibrary loan management system, electronic reserves, web-based applications, and SharePoint intranet.
 *   Develops integration between library systems, other campus systems and cloud services.
 *   Works cooperatively with vendors and other technical support providers, coordinating solutions to problems.
 *   Develops and provides regular training sessions to enhance the library faculty’s and staff’s technological skills.
 *   Keeps abreast of emerging technologies and shares that knowledge with library colleagues.

General Library faculty responsibilities:

 *   This librarian contributes to planning, implementing and assessing services.
 *   Produces creative and scholarly contributions to librarianship.
 *   Provides research assistance to students, staff, faculty and community users during weekly shifts at the Learning Commons Help Desk, providing individual research assistance in person, by phone, email and chat.
 *   Serves on Library and University committees, as requested.
 *   Reports to the Coordinator of Discovery Services.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

 *   ALA-Accredited Master’s degree in library and information science.
 *   A minimum of one year directly relevant professional experience working with applications associated with library systems and/or information technology, preferably in an academic library.
 *   Experience maintaining and supporting library automated systems and resources, especially including, but not limited to, III Millennium, eReserves, ILLiad, ContentDM.
 *   Knowledge of bibliographic record structures (including metadata standards) and core library operations such as circulation, cataloging, acquisitions, serials, etc.
 *   Knowledge of current web and database technologies and standards.
 *   Knowledge of scripting languages necessary to library systems (e.g. XHTML, CSS, PHP, Javascript, jQuery, C/C++, Perl, Python, Ruby, Visual Basic, etc.).
 *   Fluency with Microsoft Office products.
 *   Proven ability to work and communicate effectively, as an individual and as a team member, with a diverse group of people (library personnel, administrators, faculty, vendors, campus information technology services staff, and library users).
 *   Knowledge of current and emerging trends in academic library services/resources.
 *   Ability to clearly document projects and procedures.
 *   Strong service orientation.
 *   Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred:

 *   Three to five years directly relevant professional experience in an academic library.
 *   Demonstrated tract record of accomplishments related to library systems and technology.
 *   Experience with SharePoint 2010 services and functionality.
 *   Experience leveraging library APIs.
 *   Familiarity with Unix and Windows server environments.
 *   Experience with Drupal.

SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary range will be from $49,000-$53,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a renewable eleven month position (August – June, with the month of July off) with faculty status (lecturer, non‑tenure track).  Generous benefits package, including 22 days of vacation.
