Head of Technical Services Librarian - North Park University, Chicago

Brandel Library seeks a Head of Technical Services to lead a talented staff team in the essential mission of acquiring and describing resources to facilitate use by the students, faculty and staff of North Park University.  As collections and user needs change this position requires a librarian who is innovative and can effectively leverage our networked environment to ensure efficient access to all our information sources.  The successful candidate will need to think strategically, be an excellent project manager, comfortable working with digital, print, and A/V formats, and be able to successfully collaborate with other professional staff including the Collection Management Librarian, e-Resources Librarian, and the Director of Archives and Special Collections. The Temple University Libraries seek a motivated, energetic individual to serve as Electronic Resources Librarian.  Temple's federated library system serves an urban research university with over 1,800 full-time faculty and a student body of 36,000 that is among the most diverse in the nation. Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Head of Acquisitions & Collection Development, the incumbent will:
*  Coordinate overall e-resource acquisition and licensing workflow
*  Assist in negotiating pricing and other licensing terms with vendors
*  Maintain accurate information about the Libraries' e-resources in the e-resource knowledgebase (Serials Solutions) and A-Z database listings
*  Configure and maintain vendor platforms and library e-resource tools such as the link resolver (360 Link) and discovery system (Summon)
*  Serve as the primary contact for resolving technical problems with licensed e-resources
*  Work with Library Technology Services to manage the Ezproxy authentication service
*  Cultivate effective relationships with vendors
*  Oversee the collection of usage statistics and participate in e-resource assessment
*  Communicate e-resource news & updates to library staff
*  Maintain awareness of trends and best practices in e-resource acquisitions and access
*  Participate in library-wide activities or projects through service on library and university committees and working groups; the incumbent will be expected to be active professionally and also expected to meet requirements for contract renewals, promotion, and regular appointment.
*  Supervise one full-time staff member
*  Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Required education and experience:
ALA accredited MLS and evidence of e-resource management experience in an academic library environment.

Required skills and abilities:
*  Experience with electronic library resource management / knowledgebase systems, OpenURL linking technologies, or authentication mechanisms
*  Familiarity with e-resource acquisitions and licensing workflow
*  Experience configuring, managing, or trouble-shooting web-based library resources
*  Demonstrated analytical problem solving skills and initiative
*  Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
Preferred:
*  Experience negotiating licensing and pricing terms with publishers and other library vendors
*  Experience with Serials Solutions access management tools
*  Experience managing Ezproxy
*  Supervisory experience
Compensation:
Competitive salary and benefits package, including relocation allowance.  Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
