Two Positions Available

Wayne State University Library system is seeking two dynamic, creative and self-directed librarians to join our Digital Publishing Team.  Reporting to the Director of Collection Management and Discovery Services and situated within the Digital Publishing Team, these positions support the activities, projects and goals associated with Library System digital publishing endeavors. 

Essential Functions:  These comprise a range of responsibilities related to managing projects in the areas of digital collections, website development and our institutional repository, which may include: designing and building digital collections; digitizing analog materials or migrating digital formats; designing, developing and updating websites and digital technologies; growing and curating our institutional repository; assisting faculty and other partners in identifying, preparing and depositing scholarship into the repository; assisting in the daily management of the above; project review and statistics reporting functions related to these areas; participating in development of policies, procedures, and documentation; working collaboratively with partners inside and outside of the libraries; and ensuring a high availability of services and systems.

Qualifications: Master’s degree from an ALA-accredited institution; Excellent analytical and problem solving skills; Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work well as part of a team; Demonstrated ability to manage technical projects within a large library setting; Demonstrated commitment to customer service; Ability to manage  complex workload, prioritize tasks and complete work on time with minimum supervision; Experience with the design, development and/or management of large websites; Experience in multi-platform (Unix, Windows, and/or Mac) environments; Advanced knowledge of HTML and other Web related markup languages and protocols; Working knowledge of PHP and at least one or more of the following languages, features, and protocols: PERL, Java, JavaScript, bash; Experience working with various media formats; and, Experience with relational databases, MySQL in particular.
