Maybe using a good (and free) QR Code Reader app will help (and
recommending them) - my hit list:

Quickmark
i-nigma
QRCodePal
ZXing (Google Barcode)
MicrosoftTag (also reads QR Code)

All these are available on the major platforms (i.e., Android and iPhony)
