ebook Call Numbers

Hi Jennifer,

At the private high school I work, we use call numbers for our ebooks,
mainly because we create copy records for each one in our system.
It's time consuming to create them sometimes, especially when we don't own
the physical version of the ebook, nor can I find one (in DDC) through
worldcat.

When patrons do a search for a title, they get access to the full record,
call number and all. We're still trying to figure out how best to handle
them, but our library management system isn't the most robust for dealing
with electronic resources.

The main reason we create copy records for each ebook is so that we can get
rid of them, should we stop subscribing to a database/vendor - in
hindsight, that seems like a silly reason to create a copy record but we
are pretty much new to the ebook/library catalog cat and mouse game.
