Free-of-charge screencasting software

I will be very interested to see the responses to your question.

I like Jing (http://www.techsmith.com/jing.html), but their free
version might be too limited for your needs.  (And I'm not sure I
understood what you said about "recording shots on another computer"
-- but I don't know that Jing would allow that.)

CamStudio (http://camstudio.org/) is free and open source, and much
loved by the Lifehacker community, but I haven't had a chance to play
with it.
