Registration Open for Digital Preservation: What's Now, What's Next
Web pages. Electronic books. Digital Objects. It is almost impossible
today to talk about libraries without talking about electronic media.
Now that all these digital items are part of cultural institutions, how
do we as professionals make sure that these things are available for the
future?
On August 12, Amigos will offer an online conference: Digital
Preservation: What's Now, What's Next. We are excited to present a group
of speakers who will provide information about what is happening in
digital preservation and provide a glimpse of what the future holds.
Speakers include:
* William LeFurgy, Library of Congress
* Jacob Nadal, UCLA
* George Blood and Cassandra Gallegos, George Blood Audio &
Video
* Tom Clareson, Lyrasis
* Liz Bishoff, The Bishoff Group
Registration is open for individuals and groups so please plan on
attending this informative conference. Be on the forefront of what is
happening in digital preservation and register today,

REGISTER NOW for Metadata Classes - Introduction to EAD & EAD2HTML
It's time to catch up on all library and archival trends. In July, Bill
Walker is presenting two metadata classes, Introduction to the Encoded
Archival Description and EAD2HTML: Transforming your Finding Aids with
XSL. Learn how EAD can simplify the process of creating finding aids for
your archives as well as how to put those finding aids online for your
patrons. These online classes will provide you with the tools to make
your archives accessible to the public.
For more information contact Bill Walker, Imaging Field Services
Officer, at walker at amigos.org. Registration closes at 12:00 p.m. (CDT)
on Friday, July 1 for Introduction to the Encoded Archival Description
and July 14 for EAD2HTML: Transforming your Finding Aids with XSL. Most
often, these classes are only offered once a year, so don't miss out!
